6092610001A research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce stress and the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse and violence. This comprehensive and exciting program provides adults with the skills necessary to successfully handle challenging situations and to reduce stressors which can contribute to mental or physical health problems.

This grant-funded program is designed to meet the needs of adults with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse problems. It consists of 8 sessions that are 1.5 hours in duration. Participants will develop their own personalized plan for addressing stressful situations or influences in their lives. This plan is designed to be utilized following the completion of the program.

The underlying premise of the program is that stressful conditions, if not effectively addressed, can contribute to depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and physical health problems. It is expected that most participants will experience an increased sense of satisfaction and well-being. Furthermore, increased communication skills and expanded abilities to resolve conflict will contribute to improved relationships with family members and employers.

Prevention Plus has facilitated the Coping Program for more than six years at such facilities as Drenk, Kintock, Twin Oaks, the Family Support Organization, and at Fort Dix. Please use the document below if you would like to see the order of sessions and what we cover.
